Transcript Jeffersonians Political FORUM SPONSORS KNOWN SPEAKERS Activities of the Jeffersonian Forum include sponsoring many well-known speakers, including Senator John Tower and columnist Alice Widener. In addition, a series of four lectures presented by Free Enterprise, Inc. was sponsored by the Jeffersonians. To stimulate the conservative philosophy is the main purpose of the organization. JEFFERSONIAN FORUM: Bobby K. Wilson, president; Donald N. Piercy, treasurer; Joseph A. Hedding, vice-president; and Richard H. Bowman, secretary. Young Republicans YR GROWS TO 200 MEMBERS In September. 1961. the Young Republicans Club was founded by ten students to organize students with similar political beliefs. Since then the organization has grown into a membership of almost 200. Ross Baker, candidate for the 22nd district Congressional chair and Callis Dibrell, republican candidate for lieutentant-governor were among the main speakers. Officers of Young Republicans include: Loy R. Clemmons. president; Richard Cronin. vice-president; John Hintz. representative: and Annie Jones, secretary-treasurer. Among the activities of Young Republicans includes the annual fish fry in Galveston. YOUNG REPUBLICANS gather before one of their meetings. 218
