Won 21 — Lost 6 The University of Houston basketball team of 1961-1962 did a fine job and set the school record for most wins in a season. But from the predictions at the beginning of the season one would have guessed that this team would set a record for most losses, for this was supposed to be a rebuilding year. However the Cougars had different ideas. They developed a never-die attitude and hustled even more when the going was rough. No single player was billed as the star of the team; it was one complete team effort that won games. Folly Malone and Lyle Harger contend with Texas Aggies for a rebound. Pete Petrou drives through Tulsa foes for a lay-up. All hands reach for the ball after Folly Malone sends it on its way to the basket. The team carries Coach Lewis to the showers after recording their 21st win of the season to break the school record. Coach Lewis is on the shoulders of Pete Petrou and Dick Jost as cheerleader Bo Evans looks on. Don Schverak executes a hook shot. 123
