Transcript Auburn 48, Cougars 7 Houston did good to win the toss against Auburn, as they well found out. Red Phillips, the Plainsmen's All-American end, took a pass on Auburn's first play from scrimmage and ran 71 yards for the TD. After that the Cougars were never in the ball game and Auburn humiliated them 48-7. Sweeten intercepted an Auburn pass for 89 yards and six points, the longest pass interception in UH history. Cougar total offense was 106 yards to Auburn's 375. 414 Paul Sweeten jumps for a McDonald pass among Plainsman defenders and gallops 47 yards. The play was called back. It wag a sad Homecoming for the University when the Auburn Plainsmen hit town. Walking down the ramp are Don McDonald, QB, (15); James Colvin, E, (82) ; Sammy Blount, QB, (10); Bob Borah, E, (84); and Don Boudreaux, FB, (79).
