Transcript | Activity and entertainment accompany semester's end Yet another alternative to studying for finals presented itself when John Denver packed the Summit for two shows days after the Paul McCartney crowd had cleared. Denver, donning his little country boy grin, new Levi's, and cowboy boots, was cheered by a very diversified 17,000. Mothers, fathers, grandparents, and even infants stomped, clapped, and sang along with Denver as he presented an hour and a half of his hits. The casual and intimate atmosphere of "Lady," "Annie's Song," and "Country Road" soon exploded with a "whoop and a holler" and "Thank God I'm a Country Boy." In the waning days of the semester, several UHers volunteered their services at the KUHT TeleAuction. Students helped with camera operations, answered telephones, and worked with the Channel 8 auctioneers. Each year, Channel 8 raises its next year's funds by auctioning off merchants' donations, which range from kitchen blenders to exotic vacations. Right Denver warms hearts with his sentimental tunes. 102 John Denver |
