Transcript | Construction sites multiply in UH's big building boom Architectural superstructures needed to accommodate a rising student population sprung up everywhere on the UH campus in the fall, rerouting many disgruntled students from their usual paths. Construction of the $5 million Humanities Building, along with a second building for science and research, forced tired students way off their courses and eventually engulfed a much needed parking lot. Other new creations, whose construction costs exceeded $15 million, would soon house the optometry and technology colleges. M. D. Anderson Memorial Library also received a $10 million face-lift. Left Future shade trees, now only siblings, are cribbed for protection from enveloping construction work. Below Standing in the place of shabby temporaries are the skeletal beginnings of a new technology building. Campus Construction 53 |
