Transcript Elmo Wright, Cougar split-end, compiled between 1968-70 one of the greatest college athletic records in Houston's history. Breaking the NCAA mark for the most TDs caught by a receiver in a career, Wright was UH's biggest threat throughout the season. The All-American was impossible to stop despite constant double and even triple coverage. Wright's feats are all the more remarkable when it is kept in mind that the Cougar teams of his period were oriented to a running, not passing offense. Wright breaks NCAA pass-reception mark as star leads Cougars to 8-3 record.
