Transcript | Cesar Chavez and Stokely Carmichael, two leaders of American minority groups, demonstrate to student audiences the differences in their ideologies. Carmichael, who keynoted the Third World Conference, advised black people to abandon a hopeless pursuit of integration and work to liberate Africa. Chavez urged support of a boycott on non-union farm produce and recommended working within the American system to better the lot of Chicanos. 173 |
