Transcript | "We all have different majors and interests, so we're your friendly neighborhood resource center." President Angel Magourik- Baker Don LeGrand Making a change from a campus club to a national fraternity takes work, commitment and support, but the Pre-Law Society met the challenge, evolving again more than 50 years after it began. The society became the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity and the first pre-law chapter in Houston. "This will give us a better opportunity to establish ourselves as an organization and provide more services to our community!' said Publicity Chair Barbara Stalder. With the change came the implementation of a new constitution with different requirements and obligations. However, members for the fraternity only had to pay a onetime fee of $50 while Pre-Law Society inductees paid an annual $20 fee. The group helped sponsor the Annual Law School Symposium with Kaplan, providing an open panel of deans to students from universities across Texas. Students were able to question the deans about law school requirements, expectations and field specializations. Members plan to host the next symposium at the University of Houston. Holding on to their status as the most active pre-law group in Houston, they provide tours of the Law School, taking tours into classrooms so prospective students and guests can experience classes. Members also held socials with Phi Alpha Delta attorneys and professors to increase their visibility in the field. Plans were made to start a new mentor program with area attorneys and spend a day with a judge, giving members more knowledge and opportunities to decide their field. "We also want to build up our relationship with the Student Bar Association!' said President Angel Magourik-Baker. "We all have different majors and interests, so we're your friendly neighborhood resource center. "Whats great about the organization is that someone can have an interest in music or art and still be part of the organization, which increases our diversity!' Magourik-Baker said. Pre-Law members.
