Transcript | A Reigning Tradition Fans Rush Field As Cougars Deliver Overtime Win BY: Casey Garrett members of the tau kappa epsilon fraternity brave the 40-degree temperatures to support the Cougars. The Southern Mississippi game drew one of the largest and most enthusiastic crowds of THE SEASON. PHOTO By: EDMOND VAHEDI Student Life Cougar pride soared through campus as UH was up against a Top 20 football team. The odds were less than favorable, but that didn't stand in the way of a 56-49 victory over the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles. "It couldn't have been a better Homecoming game. Playing a Top 20 team in our conference and winning helped make Homecoming as big a success as it was',' said Comedy Show Chair Jason Moe. Red and white ribbons placed on campus trees and the painting of the UC left students anticipating the game. Cougar Kickoff at Butler Square gave the "Love Coach" Kim Helton and Cougar football players a chance to speak to the students about the upcoming game. The prentation of the new UH athletics logo to the community was also a topic of the kickoff. Spirit ran high as the Saturday game approached. There was plenty of tailgating fun as well as skits performed before kickoff. "Watching the UH football team beat Southern Miss, renewed my pride in the school," said Anthony Moschitto, sophomore biochemistry major. The game is noted by many as one oi the best fought games in Cougar history and will long be remembered by all who attended. At THE END OF THE FOURTH QUARTER, FANS ANXIOUSLY WATCH AS THE CLOCK COUNTS OFF THE LAST SECONDS OF THE GAME. Saturday's game concluded a high- spirited week of activities to celeBRATE Homecoming.
