Transcript | If there is one person that has "team spirit" as their middle name at U of H, it has to be Dr. Betsy Belb. She is a dedicated professor in the College of Business Administration and not only does she have enthusiasm toward her students but, the university as a whole. She considers herself a true loyal, devoted Cougar fan. "I love going to the games," she said. Dr. Belb has been named the CBA Alumni Distinguished Faculty Member for 1998. This award is presented annually to a faculty member within the College of Business Administration who exemplifies commitment to excellence in all aspects of his/her academic endeavors. Dr. Belb received her undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri where she majored in Journalism. She graduated from the University of Houston with a MBA and a Ph.D. in Management. She has been teaching at the university for 15 years. She teaches marketing courses at the undergraduate, graduate and Ph.D. level. Her classes are in research marketing strategy and practical market analyses. "Students in these classes take what they learn in books and then apply problems, to real life." She says. Besides teaching, 9r* Belb coordinates a tracking study called HealthPoll, which takes data within the health care industry and tracks customers' buying trends. When summer comes around, she doesn't slow down, but continues providing academic research for numerous companies. 4-6 People |
