Transcript | Purdum turns a pass interception into another TD COUGARS CRUSH SLI BULLDOGS, 28-7 LAFAYETTE, LA., Oct. 8—The UH revenged a previous year's trimming by an underdog Bulldog eleven from SLI, when they turned out a methodical 28-7 win over the Louisiana team here tonight. More sure of itself than last week when it fumbled to a victory over Wichita U, the Cougar squad played heads-up, near-errorless ball. In fact, they made only one blunder; Jolly Hartsell's fumble of a punt catch in the third quarter. The fumble was recovered by SLI, and the swamp-country team went for a score in two plays, both passes. Coach Clyde Lee cleared the benches here tonight, using 55 players. Far from looking like second-stringers, the reserves showed considerable class themselves in squelching all but one of the SLI teams' bids for scores. Brusing Fullback Aubrey Baker punched out two touchdowns for the Cougars, and Lloyd Ralson scored one on an Alan Neveux pass. The other UH score came on a 40-yard runback of a pass interception by Red Purdum. CECIL TOWNS Tackle HENRY COWEN Tackle -JmSB*.
