METHODIST STUDENT MOVEMENT The Methodist Student movement in the University of Houston is a unit of the National and State Methodist Student Movement through which the Methodist Church serves its students and their educational institutions. The elected MSM Council and the MSM Director endeavor to help students develop an intelligent religious life and thought, study effectively and responsibly, find meaningful vocation, and prepare for active citizenship and Church leadership. Means toward these ends include: "Friday Forums" and other discussions; a newsletter, "The Lamplighter"; delegations to student conferences; inspirational retreats; circulation of religious literature; cooperation in the educational work of the University; service of a full-time MSM Director as pastor, counselor, and teacher. Houston delegates to the Texas MSM Conference, Mineral Wells, Nov. 25-27, 1949. 249 |
