Transcript | RADIO FACULTY Left to right: standing—Mr. Franks, Mr. Franklin, Miss Thor- son, Mr. Quick, Mr. Schwarzwalder; seated—Dr. Cook (coordinator). Long hours of practice before the mike give radio students the ability to put on professional shows for the listening public. RADIO Limited space has failed to handicap the radio department which offers a wide range of courses in training future radio announcers, writers, and other workers of the modern station. Through the production of scripts on the "University of Houston Hour", a program carried on a local radio station, much valuable experience is gained by the student. Below, basic training in speech is essential. SPEECH Rapidly gaining national fame for the championship debate teams which this department trains and sponsors, the speech group offers a wide variety of public speaking and speech correction courses. The speech department not only serves as a training ground for speech majors but is a valuable asset for radio and drama students. A new program leading to a degree in speech correction is opening up many jobs. SPEECH FACULTY Left to right: Mr. Crosson, Mr. Luke, Miss Eby, Dr. Cook (coordinator), and Mr. Home. |
