Transcript | Student correspondents cover the campus JOURNALISM Journalism instruction covers almost every phase of the field with practical application through laboratory work on the Cougar, student paper; The Houstonian; and approved outside publications. Recently, students have entered into a program of actually working on Houston dailies as part of their class work. GRAPHIC ARTS Made possible by Oilman R. E. (Bob) Smith's donation of a printing plant, the graphic arts program was instituted last fall. Besides theoretical instruction in managing and operating a printing business, students receive lab practice in printing the Cougar, student newspaper, at the press. Mr. Patterson and a student correspondent interview a campus visitor. JOURNALISM AND GRAPHIC ARTS FACULTY Left to right: Mr. Taylor, Mr. Palmer, Mr. Underwood, and Mr. Patterson (dept. head). Above, Linotype machines set up type for the press. At right, a fresh copy of the Cougar rolls off the press. |
