Transcript | FRESHMAN TEAM The Cougar "Kittens," led by the rushing of Joe Bob Smith and the generalship of Don Flynn, Frank Paul, and the diminutive Al Hawthorne compiled a three won and two lost record. Playing some of the best Junior College teams in the Southwest, the freshmen averaged 13 points a game. Because of his outstanding play all season, Joe Bob Smith was voted the best varsity prospect of the freshman team.
