Transcript | Top Ten UH develops confidence Linda England, housewife, student, "women's libber," columnist for the Cougar came to the University of Houston a fearful introverted girl and became a confident woman. "I have been considered mediocre most of my life and it has been a surprise to others as well as myself that I am intelligent. It seems incredible that I have been accepted at law school. "The whole of my self-respect is based on my University of Houston experience. Slowly at first, I began to take an interest in the larger community, outside the protection of my home. My academic record gave me a foundation upon which to reach out into new experiences. The first leadership experience I have ever had has been with Mortar Board, a women's honor society. I was elected as one of the officers and had the pleasure of sharing in the decision-making process for the first time in my life. Also, the column that I have been writing for the Cougar this year has forced me to become far more out-going than I ever thought possible." 210 Top Ten |
