To paraphrase Thoreau David would say, "I have come to live life deliberately and to front only the essential facts of life and not, when I come to die, discover that I had not lived nor learned. "I have learned so that I may live deliberately. I have learned the philosophies of Romanticism and Realism, the perspective of Impressionism, the sturcture of Durkhiem's social world, the skills of research, and the compromise inherent in our democratic struggle. "If I am dedicated, I think that this knowledge and all knowledge, will help me to be more than a well- meaning boob attempting to nieve change of social problems. "My own life is enriched by knowledge, making me larger, and knowledge has sensitized me to the infinite energy and excitement of life:' 206 Top Ten |
