Transcript | Bands attract sellout crowds Chords of mellow rock to blaring big band jazz found an audience at UH. Ray Stevens and Lyn Anderson played a double bill in Hofheinz with their down home country ballads while Jimmy Buffet at Cullen asked, "Why Don't We get drunk and . . ." In an outdoor concert at Jeppesen Stadium, The Doobie Brothers put together a visual experience for their capacity crowd, just as Woody Herman, famed big band leader of the 30's and 40's, staged an audio experience for his sellout performance. right: Ray Stevens tells Ethyl not to look. bottom: The Doobie Brothers perform "Long Train Running." 96 Campus Life |
