Transcript | Cougar Guard protects Shasta The Cougar Guard is one of the most active groups on campus, but some students have never heard about it. This year, the Cougar Guard took Shasta III to all UH football games, all home basketball games, a golf tournament and other university functions. Members groom her, feed her and exercise her every day. When they go on out-of-town trips, they keep her in their hotel room. The responsibility of caring for Shasta was held by Alpha Phi Omega until 1970, when the first real Cougar Guard was formed. The membership has increased to 21 this year. The Guard members not only work together, but also do many other things together. right: Jeff Foltz takes off on Shasta's table, lower left: Shasta drinks a toast to the next cougar victory, lower right: "Goldie" Goldenfarb gets clean-up duty in Shasta's cage. 72 Campus Life |
