Transcript | THE MUSIC DEPARTMENT "Music is the universal language", and at the University of Houston students of music have many common grounds for communication. The University band is always on hand for the.many athletic events, pep rallies and concerts. The University orchestra furnishes music on the classical side, and the music department has both mixed and male choruses. Pictured above are a recital of the mixed chorus under the direction of Bruce Spencer King and a parade view of the Cougar band under the direction of Bob Hammitt. The drum major is Tommy Mercer who has held this position for three consecutive years. THE DRAMA DEPARTMENT (A DIVISION OF SPEECH ARTS.) the Drama Department announced a production schedule that would make even the most pol.ihed and exparienced Broadway star spend extra hours practicing.
