Transcript U. H. ROAD TRIP Taking a breather from conference competition, the Cougars relaxed and Oklahoma City University took advantage of the lapse to drop the locals, 46-41. The slow-breaking Chiefs had things their way most of the game. Despite 12 points by Hendrix to lead Cougar scoring, the Red and White could never seem to get up full steam. The chips were down as the Cougars played the pace-setting Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks at Public School field house. The Jacks, undefeated in conference play, saw their string snapped as the University cagers put on their track shoes and left SFA in the dust, 59-47. It was the Cougars all the way with Hendrix setting the pace by tallying 17 points. Then the Cougars took to the road. Trying for revenge, the Red and White cagers found that the Sam Houston jinx was still as good as ever. The Huntsville aggregation took the rough-and-tumble match, 55-51. Heading for Commerce, the Cougars found their luck still sour as they ran into a red hot East Texas five. The lions did it the hard way, coming from behind to take the tilt. 66-60, despite the 19 points sunk by Hendrix. The rocky road trip smoothed temporarily as the Red and White quintet rolled into Denton. Fighting an uphill battle, the Cougar cagers played a great second half to whip the Eagles 75-59 with Berg sinking 22 tallies and Brown dropping in 17. , Again the University met the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks, but it was a different story this time. The first-place 'Jacks dumped the Cougars out of a chance for conference honors as the Nacogdoches quint won, 67-44. OVER HIS SHOULDER, Dick Berg rings up a goal against Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks in the Cougar's 59-47 win. The 'Jacks took the return match at Nacogdoches, 67-44.
