Transcript | Tree crisis draws students to scene of action . . . negotiations with administration prove crashing failure. ABOVE: A three day live-in at the park: even the most liberated students take time to eat, sleep and study before the upcoming confrontation. One defender gets his feet off the ground and goes on an individual trip—to a state where students win and trees stand. LEFT: Randy Chapman, Ken Zapp and Chris Baker, review a student demand to move the proposed Fine Arts Building, thus saving trees slated for a bulldozer's burial. A bemused Vice President Emmett Fields, lower left, seems far away from the deliberations. BELOW: The protest is brought home as two pallbearers carry victim through center of power at UH, Ezekiel Cullen Building. 123 |
