The Cougars entered the Houston College Classic set to face off against Big 12 schools University of Missouri, University of Texas and Texas Tech University. On the Astros home field the Cougars showed some grit and swept the tournament. First they played Missouri and won 3-0. The highlight of the winning streak was against Texas in the second game, the Cougars escaped with a 1-0 victory. In the last game against Texas Tech, the Cougars had a large offensive output and won 15-8. After the tournament the Cougars headed west to play against Cal Poly State University for a three game series. In the first game the Cougars continued their production on offense winning 13-8. In game two, the team had a four-run victory, coming out on top 6-2. In the last game the Cougars emerged victorious with a 5-3 score. The team was unable to keep the same consistency the rest of the season, but proved they were capable of beating high- caliber teams. 114- Spring |
