Transcript | Cougar mascot Sasha pleads with fans for a ticket to the sold-out game. | Justin Flores UH TAKES WIN OVER TEXAS TECH By Matthew Keever When the Red Raiders came to town, Robertson Stadium was filled to the brim with 32,114 fans in the stands, a school attendance record. Entering the fourth quarter, UH trailed the Red Raiders 28-23. The Cougar defense successfully held Tech to a goal line stand, thwarting the Red Raiders from extending their lead. Eventually, Houston had the ball at its own 5 yard line with 5:47 remaining in the game. UH needed a touchdown for the lead but needed to be careful not to give the ball back to Tech with much time left on the clock. After a one-yard touchdown by Keenum, the Red Raiders got the ball back but failed to capitalize on the opportunity, giving UH a 29-28 victory. As if the game wasn't exciting enough, afterwards Cougar fans rushed the field and, in the excitement and disarray of it all, three UH helmets went missing and, via his Twitter, Coach Kevin Sumlin requested them back: "Saturday night was fun, but it will be hard for three of our guys to play this week without their helmets. Please return, no questions asked." The helmets were eventually returned to Sumlin. Their win over Texas Tech propelled the then-No. 17 Cougars to 3-0 on the season.
