Transcript | SEP20 The student ticket line for the UH vs. Texas Tech game began at the Athletics/Alumni Center and continued around the main fagade of Garrison Gymnasium. Steven Oster A traffic sign on Cuiien Boulevard announces news of the sold-out UH vs. Texas Tech matchup. Tickets to the game sold out in a less than three hours. I Justin Flores 09 STUDENTS BANK ON GAME DAY TICKETS Shortly after the Cougars' victory over a top- 5 opponent, students found themselves paying up to $200 a ticket for the Sept. 26 UH versus Texas Tech football match-up. The Athletics Department released 1,500 student guest tickets on Sep. 21 for $20 apiece and by 10 a.m. that morning the tickets were sold out. Some students seized the opportunity to make a profit and began selling the tickets for five times what they had paid at the box office. Kinesiology junior Ron Washington, sold two of his extra tickets for $150 and said after the grueling wait he did not feel bad for reselling his tickets at that price. "The price may seem a little steep, but the way I see it they're just going to go up the longer they wait," Washington said. "They can either pay to see it in person or they can watch it on ESPN2. I stood in line for five hours. I've been going to UH for two years, paying for tuition and books, and if UH was in my shoes they would do the same thing." The Cougars ended up beating the Red Raiders in front of a sold out crowd at Robertson Stadium by a score of 29-28. Communication sophomore Alfredo Trevino, who arrived at the Athletics/Alumni Center at 4 a.m., waited just under four hours for his tickets. I Steven Oster 44-Fall Fall ■ 45 |
