The club, located in the new wing of the UH Hilton Hotel, put on an open house Wednesday night for prospective members to mingle with the club's board of gov ernors. A crowd of 250 — dressed to the nines — showed up, and by evening's end, 22 had signed up for membership. "Hopefully, there will be a network among members to bring new people to the club," said Jean Munson, president-elect of the board. The club has already opened, operating on a "trial-and-error basis," for a couple of weeks. Faculty Senate coordinator Mary Brantley said, adding that the grand opening is scheduled for March 2. "The club is more exclusive than the Galaxy, and it'll be a nice place to bring visitors," said James Symons, chair and professor of civil engineering. 68 ■ People |
