Transcript | FAREWELL COACH "You knowj'm a Cougar, and I'll always be a Cougar." Head Coach Guy V. Lewis completed his 30-year career with a 592-279 overall record, all at UH. Lewis, who announced his retirement on January 21, 1986, went 27 consecutive seasons without a losing record (only Adolph Rupp of Kentucky — 41 — has a longer Division I streak). Guy V. has played or coached in 1,064 of the 1,122 total games UH has played in 41 seasons. Lewis has been involved in 662 of the 727 wins. There have been only two head coaches in UH history — Alden Pasche (1946-56) and Lewis. So long coach, we'll miss you. The buzzer sounds. The game is over. Guy Lewis is retired. ft > CO WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE REMEMBERED FOR? "Not for the wins or losses, but that every team that we put out on the floor was a hustling, aggressive outfit. If there was ever a trademark I thought Guy Lewis teams had it was that they hustled all the way/' 122 Sports |
