Transcript | Honoring Students HCSGB To commission the future officer leadership of the U.S. Army." The Student Governing Board is a student run organization operating within the Honors College as an outlet for Honors students to express creativity, community and excitement. "SGB serves as an opportunity for Honors students to get together outside the classroom and helps to unite the Honors community," Jonathan Williamson, junior SGB President concentrates of ways to have fun, the Honors way. dome of the events sponsored by SGB are Spatula Night, an annual talent show held in the spring and the Post-Halloween Party and Spring Fling, semi-annual parties held in the Honors Lounge. This semester, Sgb experimented with a new activity called the Quest foe the Fest. This event let the students partake of an annuak Texas event, the Texas Renaissance Festival. SGB also partakes in other activities sponsored bt the Honors College. Many members of SGB are also part of the Honors Advocates, people dedicated to recruiting new mwmbers to th Honors College, and they also help with the honors College booth at Frontier Fiesta. "SGB allows us to get in touch with the Honors faculty and staff and other difficult members of the campus and the city tat we would otherwise be unable to have contact with, also, its a lot of fun with the events and the students," says Meg Albertson, freshman. Despite the non-political atmosphere of the Governing Board, these students did flex a little muscle in SA. SGB campaigned and pushed to put an Honors College Senatoron the SA Senate and succeeded. All members of the Honors College are invited to join SGB and many of them participate in one way or another. This organization is a close, personal group of people, often being visited by Jodie Fiore, the Academic Coordinator of the Honors College, and Dean Ted Estess, the head of the Honors College. -Jason Marchand 206 6D Organizations |
