Transcript | Downtown School DEAN JAMES C TAYLOR "Where Main Street goes to college"—this could truly be the theme of the downtown extension of the University of Houston over which Dean James C. Taylor presides. Dean Taylor has been head of the fourth largest division of UH since 1951. He started his fruitful career in educating as Assistant Professor of marketing at UH. The purpose of the Downtown School is to make col lege training available to three-quarters of a million people in Houston proper. The training received there is exactly like that given on the main campus. The average age of the Downtown student is six years older than the average age on the main UH campus. Also, over 60% of the students walk from their jobs to class. 132 |
