Transcript | Fair Contestants Penny Graves, above left, keeps her cool during Garry Pearcy's questioning and above right, an APO member assists graceful Donna Sikes off the stage after her questioning. Below, Cheron Hurd and Lynn Stephenson watch April Phillips apply last minute touch-ups to her make-up. A squeal, a gasp and a tear registered the reactions of coeds named the Top Ten Beauties in the Houstonian's Vanity Fair Contest. From these ten, Miss Houstonian, UH's most beautiful coed, would be selected. The contest consists of three judg- ings, scoring on beauty, poise and personality. Out of 235 hopefuls the field was narrowed to 50, to 25 and finally to ten. For the final judging, coeds were scored not only on beauty but on their ability to answer three random questions. The coed receiving the largest number of beauty points and question points was selected Miss Houstonian. |
