Organized on July 14, 1941, the sorority has as its purpose to support all campus activities, aid the school itself by giving a book-of- the-month to the University library, forming companionships and maintaining high moral and social standards. The sorority's activities cover a wide range of social as well as charitable works. The group gives baskets to needy families at Thanksgiving and Christmas as an annual project. Participation in Frontier Fiesta, Homecoming, Varsity Varieties and various other school functions has earned many honors for Beta Chi. Added to its list of accomplishments is the honor of being presented with trophies for having the largest attendance in their show "Bella Union" in Fiesta. Gan Bey fraternity and Beta Chi present this show which is the largest on the midway. In 1950, Beta Chi was awarded a trophy for having one of the best floats in the Homecoming parade, and for several years members have been outstanding students and beauties on the University campus. Social activities of the sorority include rush parties, an annual dinner dance, a Christmas cocktail party and a barn party. Serenades by members of the social fraternities on the campus are also a very important part of the social life of the group.
