Transcript | BARBARA SMITH PETERSON Associate Editor NANCIE SWEETON. Editor-in-Chief The 1956 HOUSTONIAN .. To express the panorama of life on our campus, the 1956 Houstonian intricately wove a pattern of coveted memo- jies, telling vividly a year's story at the University of Houston. Within the Houstonian's Warehouse of Memories evolved a theme, "Out of this World of Memories Comes . . . 1956," and out of the Houstonian office our editor, Nancie Sweeton, and her staff molded the layouts, created the copy and selected the photographs . . . Warehouse of Memories to show a year different from all the other years. To some, all yearbooks are the same, but each year the yearbook is a chapter in itself, filled with special meaning and excitement for those who lived it. Too, at the UH, 1956 marked a change, for color was used to the greatest advantage on division pages. Greeks went national and the First Annual Songfest was held. The Houstonian's Warehouse of Memories became a record of change, new ideas and new leadership. Colored within these pages is the feeling that the University of Houston has entered a new era . . . and that new era of growth is recorded here.
