Transcript Alpha Delta Pi, as the first sisterhood for college women, appropriately had its birthplace at Wesleyan Female College, Macon, Georgia, which is the oldest women's college in the world. There on May 15, 1851, a group of young women acting as charter members, organized this secret group under the name "Adelphean Society." From the day of its founding, the fraternity has been bound by the covenant that only girls who may commend themselves for their intellectual and moral work, dignity of character, and property of development, could be taken into membership. Activities include Homecoming, "Crow's Nest" in Fiesta, a spring formal, a summer bay party, and Christmas boxes. The officers are Mimi Ford, president; Carolyn Hart, vice president; Carol Newman, recording secretary; Peggy Gilmer, corresponding secretary; Jane Coley, treasurer; Sue Chambers, historian; Beverly Freeman, parliamentarian; Mary Newsum, publicity chairman; Martha Collins, chaplain; and Nancy Spencer, song leader. The sponsor is Miss Doris Saither. m-m j^^tk Ja^^^fc. _s________ S. © B <$ i__f \ /*% _•*% I- r ~'^____T 9 r 159
