Transcript | that it cannot fulfil the task that circumstances have allotted it. The lack of representation of the young workers in large scale industry is made abundantly clear in our leading bodies and at our conferences where decisions are often taken affecting the policy to be pursued amongst the youth of the heavy industrial shops without the necessary knowledge of their daily work and without understanding their needs and desires. Instead of these bodies being composed of a majority of the representatives of heavy industry the presence of such representatives is exceptional and therefore very confused ideas prevail amongst our members as to how to carry on the work amongst them. Knowledge must precede all intelligent action and until we establish our organization on the basis of the shop nuclei we can know little or nothing of the workshop life. Our aim is to retransform our social composition and to capture the most important section of the youth, the workers in the heavy industry. This can only be done in the workshops. Similarly if this course is followed the difficulties already enumerated can be overcome. i • 2* 19 |
