Description This is a political caricature related to the Franco-Prussian War of 1870 or the Paris Commune of 1871. Within illus.: Saxony Border. Mabille(?). From the newspaper Le Charivari. Caption (English translation): "Violation of territory. -A little more and we will be there.// -I beg you, gunners! Give me the time to write to my stockbroker.// Go stand your guard, but don't take a rifle/gun. It will be a way of protesting against the armaments of Europe.// Oh my! Françoise, don’t bang/slam the doors like that! We’ll think it’s the cannon/gun. You will make the Stock Exchange prices fall/drop.// Painting the age of Charlemagne in the Hotel des Invalides, Mr. Benedict Masson feels the effect of his entourage.// The Chinese ambassadors are afraid of getting lost in the streets of Paris.// The Chinese ambassadors let themselves be hoodwinked by the ladies.// -But go on, will you! -Thank you! I did not want to get tired, I saved my strength to punch in the weigh-in enclosure/racetrack.// New outfit for jockeys inside the weigh-in.// So go on! What is it, did you break your neck. I bet a bottle, you're going to make me lose it.// The bettors now ride with the jockey to ensure that he runs properly."
