  • Klenck, Paul
Description This is a political caricature related to the Franco-Prussian War of 1870 or the Paris Commune of 1871. No. 33
Caption Caption: English translation: "Political club orator. Ducasse organized in 1869, the public reunions in Ménilmontant, which became very important in a couple of days. Citizen Ducasse is an ardent Robespierriste, and an authoritarian communist; he is very familiarized with La Grande!... For him, Marat is the ideal, the revolutionary prototype. During the Commune, he would give heated speeches in the clubs and turned around his redundant exhortations every day: We are the worthy apostles of Robespierre and Marat in teaching the immortal principles of 93!"
