Caption: "Un écrivain distingué dont les ouvres seront très recherchées avant peu. Vermorel, par conviction d'abord et plus encore pour se laver de l'injure de mouchard (lancée en pleine chambre, sous l'Empire, par Rocheford) s'était jété à corps perdu dans la Commune. (Blessé sur une barricade et mort à Versailles des suites de ses blessures.)" Caption (English translation): "Member of the Commune. A distinguised writer whose work will only be known by a few. Vermorel, who first by conviction and even more to wash away the insult of being called a spy, (launched in the midst of the room session, under the empire, by Rochefort) threw himself headlong into the Commune. (Was wounded at a barricade and died at Versailles from his wounds.)" |
