Alternative Title | The Commune: Billioray |
Creator (LCNAF) |
|
Date | 1870s |
Description | This is a political caricature related to the Franco-Prussian War of 1870 or the Paris Commune of 1871. Caption (English translation): "Member of the Commune. The name Billioray was for a long time a name that gave the impression of a hurdy-gurdy player well known in the streets of Paris, who was a begging dish(?) and a police informer also known as Casserole. In reality, Billioray is a talented young painter, extremely unknown before the Commune, and that has nothing to do with that sneak-nomad artist. (Condemned to deportation.)" |
