Description This is a political caricature related to the Franco-Prussian War of 1870 or the Paris Commune of 1871.
Caption Caption: English translation: "Jacques—Oh! Mister Mayor, isn’t what happens to me so very annoying? Here, with all due respect, I have a pig that I fed for nearly twenty years and which has cost me God knows how much! And now it turns out that I have cared for and fed it for the King of Prussia... I cannot endure it. The Mayor— What do you, my poor Jacques, it shouldn’t be that fat, and above all if you would have gotten rid of it a long time ago, you would have been fine."
