Transcript SPORTS CAPSULE By LEE DAVIS Volley's Volunteers Ifyou would like to meet athleles from across the U.S., you are needed to assist wiih the Lone Star Volleyball Classic IX to be held Easter Weekend, Friday, March 28 and Saturday, March 29, 1997. Volunteers are needed to distribute welcome packets, register players. house players, assist at the gyms, show the city, etc. Ifyou are interested, please leave a message on the Lone Star Volleyball Association's 24 hr. voice mail at 713-878- 4629. Galveston & Matzatlan The Rainbow Fishing Club 's first fishing outing on the Texsun II on Sunday, Dec. 8 was a great success with seven club members catching 35 Red Snappers plus a few Triggerfish, Bluefish and Black Drum. The next club irip will be Sunday, Jan. 19 on the Texsun II. The 12-hour trip on lhe 70- loot deluxe cruiser costs $60 per person and the boat travels 40 to 80 miles into the Gulf ol Mexico. All fishing lackle is provided. In April, there will be two trips on lhe New Buccaneer which can take up to 100 people. Dates are Wednesday April 16 and Sunday April 20. If interested in any of their activities call 713-523-6381. Rack 'em Up J he Houston Metropolitan Billiards League, Inc. (HMBL) reports Week 8 standings as Oui Cousins, Jackson 5, J.R.'s Cue Crew, Ripcord Maniacs and Masters of the Mine in 1st through 5th places. The third monthly meeting will be held on Jan. 12 at the Mining Company at 2pm. One-half season dues are due at that time ($24.50 per person or $122.50 per team). Jan. 14 is slated as the lasl date for player status uhanges. The top five players are Larry Lentz (Boozers), Troy Ri.siow (Masters ol the Mine), Ken Bailey (Oui Cousins), Bob Cypert (Jackson 5), and Willie Suniga (Jackson 5). Gutter Balls The Montrose Monday Night Men's League reports Division I Standings in 1st, 2nd and 3rd places are Beat the Meal Again, We Go There and The Eclectic Twits. In Division II, Spank My Feet, Thirsty Wives Club and Intelligent Wifeforms occupy the top spots. High Scratch Game of 257 and Series of 701 was bowled by Bob Roberts. High Handicapped Game was bowled by Christopher Schultz and Series by Rick Key. Bowling is at Palace Lanes at 9pm on Monday. Call Tom at 522-9612. The Inner Loop Sunday Evening League reports standings of Please Don'l Eat the Daisy in 1st, We Go There Too in 2nd and Have Mercy in 3rd. High Scratch Game of 245 and Series of 650 was bowled by Brian Elley for the men. High Handicapped Game and Series was bowled by Gary Bue- ckner.
