That's literal and figurative; good relationships smooth 11fe's way, but you may be in for some real foot problems. Don't kick the cat or step on anyone's toes. Watch that temper. Taurus Now, zooming off into the future, comes Buck Taurus. Lots of momentum, that's sure, and plenty of encouragement get you going. You may even pull it off. Don't take off into a time warp without knowing what the rules are, the controls mean. Gemini When are plenty of safe sex and easy money troublesome? Right now, when you can't figure out how to control either one. Both will come your way easily, and caution is indicated in managing your sudden good fortune. Easy does it. Cancer Nicely thought out, Cancer! Your attention to basic matters has begun to pay off, and you're starting to feel better about the things that were causing concern. The key word here is "begun:· Avoid a temptation to stray from your current path. Leo As you're finding out, life can be full of chores. In looking for a way out of them you may come up with some good notions. But don't put them to immediate use. Do what needs to be done and vode you time. Dullness woll soon be banished. Virgo Hunches about friends turn out to be correct. It may be a good idea to let them know about your thoughts. Keep in touch with those closest to you or you may find yourselves growing apart. Amuse yourself by trying a new look for yourself. Libra Why you busy little homemaker! How well you've livened up your life and that of your loved ones! Appreciation comes to you, and better yet, you've set in motion a series of events that will pay off in time to come. Scorpio Your current series of intellectual exercise continues q.~ A1~30, 1990 efficiently, but with a far clearer idea of how to use them. Finally there's a goal to work toward and ends to accomplish. Don't be afraid to heed the advice of dreams and premonitions. Sagittarius An innocent fling? Don·t think about it. If you're spoken for, it's destructive, and if you're single, it could be dangerous. Stick close to those you know, find you fun close to home, and just smile at the beautiful stranger. Capricorn That egotistic involvement of yours can be good if you use it for healthy introspection. But beware turning others off! Directing all of that incredible energy toward your work still seems like the best idea. Aquarius A sudden windfall may bring a new crowd of friends with it. Don't be fooled. Hold on to those you can trust, and be cautious of the others. Don't overdo work or play, and feel the worse for it. Pisces Looking for respect? You·11 get it. A new way of seeing yourself aids the process, and a charitable donation of time or money is greeted with many thanks. Don't let one who's envious be fly in the ointment. It's nice to be appreciated. The gay community encompasses all segments of the population-further proof if any is needed ~ that homosexuality genetically chooses us, not us choosing our sexual orientation. And this can be 6 both our greatest asset and our greatest dilemma. The gay community reflects the wide diversity of i'"3' the general populace brought into greater interaction because of our shared orientation. But, on ~ the other hand, this diversity often prevents us from achieving the unity needed to fight for a com- ~ mon cause. 0 ~ While most gay men and lesbians agree on the need for some form of legal protection, not until ~ AIDS was there an issue which brought the community together in quite the same way. With those ::5 always rare exceptions, we agreed on educating our community about the danger and we agreed to a: ~ support community-based service providers to ease the suffering of our stricken. w ~ But where we most need community agreement and unity we most often fall into disarray-and ~ this is in our dealing with straight society. Now, more than ever, it is important that, as a community, (/) ,~_ we establish our priorities and our unity in dealing with the political and economic powers control- 6 ling our lives. ::;; We need greater communication within the Houston gay community, the Texas community, and the community across the country. We need to cut out duplication of effort, and even wasted effort. We need to support those gay organizations with proven records of effectiveness. The greater society in this country will only respect our expertise and our visible clout. And we must be alert to outside efforts to divide and conquer, to play on our natural diversity as a weapon for friction and even conflict. It is time for us to realize our potential, to define our natural enemies, and to appeal to real and likely allies. It is time for us to define the essential issues and not be hammered to death by inconsequential matters. There is a wealth of goodwill in our community, a common purpose towards AIDS, and talent enough to carry the day. We have only to put it all together. Sound simple, or simple-minded? Nothing worth achieving is ever simple but we sometimes do make it more difficult than it truly is. We must first bring together our diverse resources here in Houston. Then unite our efforts throughout Texas. And, finally, we can then establish a national agenda. The process has already begun locally, and we can all encourage and support these beginnings, and success will thrive on itself. . .. If we need reminding of the little minds we must confront constantly, a news item this week from Salt Lake City: Gay rights advocates gained a victory when an international exhibit on the Holocaust opened with references to homosexual victims of the Nazis. Officials of the Utah Office of Education has opposed the effort as such references to homosexual victims might violate state law prohibiting promotion of homosexuality in scho..o.l s. We need say no more. And now for a commercial message: Please remember that LOBO is a business and we greatly appreciate vour support, be it the p1." chase of a greeting card, a book or a video.
