Transcript 10 MONTROSE VOICE / MARCH 21, 1986 Montrose Congregations Plan Holy Week Services From press releases Weeklong services at several area churches serving Houston's gay and lesbian community are scheduled to begin Saturday, March 22, with observances of Palm Sunday and the Jewish Purim. Rev. Jeri Ann Harvey, evangelist, will speak at three services at the New Freedom Christian Church Coinciding with the start of Easter services, the Rev. Elder Jeri Ann Harvey of Los Angeles will be in Houston for special services March 21-23 at the New Freedom Christian Church, 829 Yale. The Rev. Harvey, a Metropolitan Community Church evangelist and former Houston pastor, most rece ltly pastored the MCC-Los Angeles chu rch. She is scheduled to speak Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and again at the church's regular Sunday morning service at 10:00 a.m. Holy week services at Dignity/Houston will begin Saturday with a 7:30 p.m. mass in celebration of Palm Sunday. Daily Lenten services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. Services on Holy Thursday and Good Friday will begin at 7:30 p.m. An Easter vigil is scheduled for Saturday, March 29, at 7:30, followed by a potluck dinner. All services will be held upstairs at the Dignity Center, 3217 Fannin. The Congregation Aytz Chayim, Houston's only gay-oriented Jewish congregation, will hold its annual Purim Party Saturday, March 22. at 8:00 p.m. The celebration will feature a telling ofthe Purim story as well as the singing of traditional holiday songs. Easter week services at Houston's Metropolitan Community Church of the Resurrection begin on Palm Sunday, March 23, with regular Sunday services at 10:45 a.m. and 7:15 p.m. In addition to the regular Wednesday midweek service, a special Holy Thursday service has been scheduled and will include Communion and a washing ofthe feet. A Good Friday service is planned for the following day, also at 7:15, and includes a "sermon/slide presentation." MC'CR's week of services will culminate on Easter Sunday. March 30, with a 6:00 a.m. Easter Sunrise Worship Service, scheduled to be held in Allen Park near the Gus Wortham Fountain. An Easter breakfast will follow at 7:15 a.m. in the fellowship hall of the church. 1919 Decatur.
