Transcript Women's Softball to Hold Annual Meeting The 1986 Annual Meeting of the Houston Women's Softball League will be held on Sunday, Jan. 19, at 4:00 p.m., at Dignity Center, 3217 Fannin. The league encourages all members to attend this meeting. The spring session will begin in late March and games will be played on Sundays either in Montrose or the Heights. The '86 World Series will be played in New Haven, Conn., over Labor Day weekend. Newcomers are welcome to attend the Jan. 19 meeting and are reminded that this is a slow-pitch league. For more information about the league, call Carolyn at 868-6256. Garza Successfully Defends, Chavez Moves Up in Houtex Tennis Last Sunday, Jan. 5, 26 players participated in Houtex Tennis Club play. Several matches were played along with some "after the holidays" practice. Lou Garza defended his position on the B ladder by defeating Joe L. 6-4, 7-5. Eddie Chavez moved up to the B ladder with a win against Larry Jarvis 6-4,3-6, 7-5. Rick Martinez regained a position on the D ladder by defeating Henry E. 6-3,7-6 (7-1). The club will be having a general meeting/ party on Sat., Jan. 18, at President Donny Kelley's home. For more information call 789-2110.
