Thursday bowlers bowl their best Thursday
By Billie Duncan
There are usually two or three bowlers on
Thursday who manage to break 200, but
on June 3, there were seven people who
has 200 games. Seven.
One of them, Steve McConaughy, had
three 200 games (234, 207, and 202). Steve
is on Just Marion & Lynn's Tropical F'ruit
as is Bob Akins, who had two 200 games,
including the high game for the night. 235.
Their teammate, Butch Irish, is the person
who has the high game for the season.
Quite a team!
Kindred Spirits'Leather & Lace had two
team members who bowled over 200 also:
Bob La field and RobConners.Robwan ted
to have his first 200 game up in Dallas at
the IGBO tourney, but that did not work
out. But he commented, "I'm just glad I
finally did it."
Another person who "finally did it" was
Nancy Perales, the manager of Stadium
Bowl who popped 209 pins for her very
first 200 game in her life.
As far as the team standings, they have
finally gotten updated with For a Few
Daddies More again taking over the top
spot from Kindred Spirits' leather & Lace,
who are back in close second.
Chases is chasing both of them, however, and those three teams are within one
game of each other.
Just Marion & Lynn's Tropical Fruit is
back up to fourth place after temporarily
dropping to seventh. Of course, all those
high games on the 3rd did not hurt.
■ Monday competition
tight
The MSA Monday Night Bowling
League has a standings battle going that
is as tight as some of the players by the
end of Monday Night trips to the Stadium
Bowl bar.
If two teams are within four games of
one another, then all it takes is one night
of play to switch things around. Well, it is
fascinating to note how many teams in
each division are within four games of
each other.
In Division A, the top four teams are all
within four games of each other. In Division D. the top five teams are within four

games. In Division B the top six are four
games apart.
And, in Division C, the top eight teams
are within four games. In fact, there are
three teams tied for fourth place as far as
games are concerned, with The Hole over
Black & Blue Balls by a mere 32 pins. And
Black & Blue Balls is only over the Cock-
Tailers by 42 pins.
Division B insanity features the topfour
teams within one game of each other.
Bushwackers have won 23 games, Five
Easy Pieces have 22Vi, Hole-E Rollers
have 22 and E/J's Protein Suppliments
have 22 also, trailing the Hole—E Rollers
by l ll pins.
Besides the standings war, there was a
notable statistic in the high games cata-
gory this past week. On Monday, June 7,
Charles Dierkes howled a 252, which is
only one pin away from Gerald hagen's
season high game of 253.
Both Charles and Gerald bowl on Division D's Gator-Aid, which is in second
place right now.
■ All-Stars chosen
Last night (Thursday) at the Galleon,
the names were announced of the
members of the MSA Softball League All-
Star teams. Besides the primary team
members, five other members were chosen
from each division.
In the North Division, Dirty Sally's
dominated the voting, with eight primary
team members. The only other team with
representatives is the Montrose Mining
Company with three.
The Miners also have two members of
the additional. And in the additional list
are one player each from The Barn, Brazos
River Bottom and Mary's.
In the south Division, there is a bit more
of a spread-around. The team with the
most players on the primary team is third
ranked A&K Jewelry with four. The other
two teams that have players on the All-
Star primary roster are the division
leader, The Galleon, and the cellar team,
the Montrose Voice. Each has three
members.
As far as the additional, the Montroee
Voice has two players, the Briar Patch two
and the Galleon one.
And now for the names!
In the North Division: pitcher Mike
