Transcript PROGRAM FOR A GREATER UNIVERSITY OF MISSISS LYCEUM BUILDING UNIVERSITY, MISSISSIPP | April, 1963 To Alumni and Other Friends: Chancellor J. D. Williams recently addressed a distinguished audience of Californians at a meeting of the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco on the subject "The University and Integration.TT There was immediate, widespread, and favorable reaction to his address, not only in leading newspapers but in other publications throughout the nation. Chancellor Williams' speech brilliantly set forth the case for the University and the South, and I feel that his talk has been a highly influential instrument in creating understanding throughout the country for the events which took place on the University campus last fall. I believe also his words have been of great influence in gaining increased knowledge of, and respect for, the State of Mississippi which has been so unjustly criticized in many quarters. For these reasons I take pleasure in sending you a copy of the Chancellor's address. I believe you will find it of much interest. Sincerely yours, Charles D. Fair General Chairman
