Transcript University of Houston 3 801 CULLEN BOULEVARD HOUSTON 4, TEXAS OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT March 18, 1957 Mr. M. A. Frempong Manso P# 0. Box 531 Sekondi Ghana (Gold Coast) Dear Mr. Manso: Thank you for your letter of March 8 inquiring about admission to the University of Houston. You are probably aware of the fact that in the State of Texas, and in many other states in the United States, separate colleges are provided for students of Negro race. The subject of integrating whit* and negro students at the University of Houston is currently a matter of study by its Board of Governors. If such integration takes place, it will probably begin at the graduate level. To date no negro student has been admitted to the University, under the provisions of its charter. Negro students wishing to study in the city of Houston are advised to write to the President of Texas Southern University, our sister institution for negroes, located at ,201 Wheeler Street, Houston 4, Texas. Sincerely yours, Clanton W. Williams President ekr
