Transcript University of Houston 3801 CULLEN BOULEVARD HOUSTON 4, TEXAS OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT October 19, 1959 Miss Sylvia Palmore Box 2721 Prairie View Agricultural and Mechanical College Prairie View, Texas Dear Miss Palmore: Your letter of October 12 inquiring about admission to the University of Houston has been referred to me for reply. I do not know from reading your letter that this is apropos^ nevertheless, I must report to you that to date no Negro has been admitted to the University of Houston. The subject of desegregation is a matter of active study on the part of our Board of Governors. The decision to admit Negroes will be reported to the news services. Meantime, I must tell you that I do not expect that decision to be made prior to the spring semester of I960. Sincerely, Clanton W. Williams President ekr
