Transcript | University of Houston 3801 CULLEN BOULEVARD HOUSTON 4, TEXAS OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT May 23, 1957 Mr. Curtis B. McGowan 1810 Diamond Street La Marque, Texas Dear Mr. McGowan: Your letter of May 9 regarding admission to the Graduate Division of the University of Houston has been referred to me for reply. I must report to you that to date no Negro has been admitted to the University of Houston. The matter of desegregation is currently a subject of serious study on the part of the University and its Board of Governors, When a final decision has been reached, you will doubtless see press notices about it. I doubt seriously that that will occur in time for you to attend the summer session, Sincerely Clanton W. Williams President ekr |
