Vituili, Registrar Dr. John C. Allred, Asst. to the President DEPT. DATE May 17, 1962 SUBJECT Applications from Negroes On May 15, 1962, President Hoffman, Dr. Allred, Dr. Nicholson and Mr. Vituili met and discussed procedures to he followed for the Second Summer Term 1962, the Academic Year 1962-I963 and the Academic Year 1963-196^. The following decisions were reached. 1. Inquiries from undergraduate and graduate students for admission to the Second Summer Term, 1962, and from undergraduate students during the Academic Year 1962- 1963 will he handled as prescribed in the memorandum from Chancellor Bruce dated August 31, i960. 2. Inquiries from students seeking graduate admission to the Academic Year 1962- 1963 will be handled routinely by the Dean of the Graduate School. The selection of negro applicants, however, will be based upon the results of interviews by the Graduate Dean, interviews by others as are deemed necessary and superior performance on the Graduate Record Examination. 3. All inquiries received for admission to the Academic Year 1963-6^ will be handled routinely by the Office of Admissions and the Graduate School Office. The one exception is that qualified students may not be advised that they are accepted for admission until such time as the Board of the University gives authorization. I would appreciate receiving any needed amendments or corrections to this summary.
