Transcript | UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON Application for Admission to the Junior College and Senior College This application is to be filled in and returned immediately to the Office of Admissions by all students who wish to enroll in the University of Houston in the Junior or Senior College Division of the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Education, Engineering, Technology, Nursing, and the School of Architecture. Students who wish to apply for admission to the Graduate Division or to the Colleges of Law, Optometry, or Pharmacy should request the appropriate application from the Dean of the College concerned. Requirements for Admission Listed below are the minimum requirements for admission. Please refer to the General Information Catalog for the complete requirements. The student is expected to submit official transcripts of all previous academic work and his application for admission by the following dates: Admission for a Fall Semester by August 15; a Spring Semester by January 1; a first summer term, by May 10; a second summer term, by July 1. A transcript is considered to be official only when sent directly from the former institution to this University. Students, both men and women, having good moral character and high ethical standards may be admitted to any of the above listed colleges if they qualify for admission in one of the following ways: 1. BY GRADUATION FROM AN ACCREDITED HIGH SCHOOL with a minimum of 15 units distributed as follows: English, three units; Mathematics, two units; two units each in two of these three fields; Science, foreign language, or social science, and six approved elective units. An official copy of the student's high school record must be on file in the Office of Admissions before he may be admitted. 2. BY COLLEGE TRANSFER. A student transferring from another college must have official transcripts on file in the Office of Admissions of all previous work before his admission status can be determined. It is expected of the student to be in good academic standing and to have been honorably dismissed from the previous institution. 3. BY EXAMINATION. A mature student who has not graduated from an accredited high school and who can demonstrate that he has the ability and seriousness of intent to profit from college work may be admitted provided satisfactory scores are made on a selected battery of examinations. These examinations are administered by the Counseling and Testing Services of the University upon presentation of a permit issued to the student by the Director of Admissions. It is necessary that the results of these tests be on file in the Office of Admissions before a student may be admitted. 4. AS SPECIAL STUDENT. A student who does not qualify for admission by one of the above means may, at the discretion of the Director of Admissions, be admitted as a special student in a VOCATIONAL PROGRAM of the College of Technology only. Credit earned while classified as a SPECIAL STUDENT is not applicable toward a certificate, diploma, or degree, until such classification is changed. (See paragraph on special students in the general information catalog) Classification In answering Question 34, please use the following data. Include credit for courses that may now be in progress: CLASSIFICATION CLASSIFICATION IN THE JUNIOR COLLEGE DIVISION IN THE SENIOR COLLEGE DIVISION Special (0 semester hours) Junior (60-89 semester hours) Freshman (0-29 semester hours) Senior (90 or more semester hours) Sophomore (30-59 semester hours) Post Graduate (holds degree but doing undergraduate work.) Students who wish to take only courses for non-credit (auditors) should not fill in this form, but should secure a VISITOR'S PERMIT from the Office of Admissions. Veterans attending under any Federal Public Law are not permitted to take courses for non-credit. (Revised Form 122R 25M 11-55) |
